Romantic Alternative Ideas if You Can't Afford a Honeymoon

You just got married, congratulations! This is the most beautiful journey you have embarked on together, and everything is fresh and exciting. Naturally, you want to spend as much time together as possible and enjoy this new life together, so that calls for a honeymoon, right? But what if you can’t afford one? Well, don’t let financial inability stop you from getting to know your love more intimately! Here are things you can do instead.

Spend a night or two at an accessible B&B

If your wallet doesn’t allow you to go to your dream destination, why not try to stay at a nearby bed and breakfast? We think this is a nice honeymoon alternative, and let us tell you why. First, you will probably get a warmer personal service than in a hotel. B&B’s are known for hospitality, which is why they receive great ratings from travelers. Secondly, you can also enjoy a home-cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients, which will make the start of your day a pleasurable one. Of course, you can spend those nights talking about your wedding and your future in warm, frizzy robes.

Disconnect from your digital life

Even if you can’t afford a honeymoon, you can still relax and unwind just by being on vacation mode. One of the ways to achieve this is to unplug from work and the internet. Go on vacation mode even at home. For a couple of days, try not to answer emails, take phone calls, or check notifications on social media. Put your digital life to a pause. Instead, give your sweetheart your undivided attention. You’re going to love the privacy and intimacy of your first nights and days together.

Take a mini-moon

Since you just spent a considerable amount of money on your wedding, you can hold off your honeymoon and go on a mini-moon instead. Not everybody can afford a getaway in paradise for a week, but anyone can delay that dream vacation and go for a more economical option. If you don’t have enough vacation days or are on a tight schedule anyway, a mini-moon makes a great honeymoon alternative. It can be a shorter trip closer to home, which will allow you to still enjoy yourselves without having to put too much financial stress on your new married life. Trust us, it will be as romantic as a two-week honeymoon, but not as expensive.

Tour your local home turf

If you can’t afford a honeymoon, there are spots in your neighborhood where you and your honey can make some memories, such as a public park, camping grounds, or even historical places. Just embrace the role and feel like a tourist. Enjoy those tourist attractions and take photos. If you can be a little techie and if you aren’t camera shy, try and make a vlog of your experience. This way, you have something to always go back to and help you remember what a fun day it was!

Not being able to afford a honeymoon shouldn’t be a problem. As long as you’re together and you’re passionate about one another, you can make any day or any place a romantic getaway!
